"Bill, you are a bright star in the new agricultural sky."
-Tom Burford
If you're interested in spreading fruits and berries widely through the landscape, then you would be well served to gift yourself by attending Barkslip's fruit school. Bill will teach you what you need to know to grow, graft and propagate our world back to health and abundance and have fun doing it! This is the good stuff, don't miss it!

"Bill Whipple has co-created a kaleidoscopal hot spot of integrated edibility that's top of our list for the must-see urban Permaculture tour. We've taken many enthusiasts to his place, each of whom come away with renewed inspiration for growing their own paradise gardens. Of particular interest is the pear tree that boasts 10 grafted varieties, his fruit tree micro-nursery, as well as the mead made from the fruits of his labor. Bill is a fruit tree wizard, with the added bonus of generously rooted knowledge and wit. We're lucky to have him as a resource in our community. Like the trees he plants, his gifts are abundant."

Bill,
I was the permaculturist in your March grafting class at the folk school. I'm writing not only to stay in contact but to say that my grafted apple trees lived and have leaved out beautifully. I'm hooked! Thanks for your straight-forward instruction, and the banjo was a nice touch as well. Maybe the most valuable idea I came away with is that all these bradford pears the city plants that I've been cursing for being merely ornamental have transformed in my mind to potential rootstock for guerilla grafting.
Thanks and take care.

Bill Whipple A.K.A. Professor T. Bud Barksip knows his apples, his grafting more than that, he is passionate about sharing the details and science of the craft of growing fruit. at the end of my first class i had 3 sturdy rare varieties of apple, i could not have found in my local stores. These young trees grafted by me with the support of Barksiip's knowledge, and materials brought to share and teach through more than paid for the class. the knowledge i have now - to understand and apply has given me pause to rethink my farming efforts to the naturalness of fruit and trees. T. Bud Barkslip gives you the comprehensive understanding you need to take care of your fruit trees, and propagate them on your own, if you want, then, forever free of the store based apple tree or many other kinds of tree. i now have one semi dwarf tree with 7 varieties grafted to it. I did that after learning the tongue and whip graft technique used to graft in the spring. graft and be your own johnny apple seed. lots more fun, economical, and environmental able to build your own choice in orchard no matter the size.
